On or before the first day of March A. D. 1844 for value received we or either of us promise to pay, John C. Walsh or order the sum of Five hundred dollars with six per cent interest per annum
In his 9 February 1843 letter to Richard M. Young, JS indicated that Elias Higbee’s signature would be on the “obligations.” Because the signatures were removed when the notes were canceled, it is unknown if Higbee signed them.
