The <of the City of ,> will pay City Recorder One hundred and fourty seven dollars and forty Cents, out of any funds in the City Treasury not otherwise appropriated, the same having been this day allowed him by the City Council of said , for business done <by him> for the , in the year 1842.— Given & Certified by me, under the Corporation Seal of said , at said , this first day of June 1843.—
Sloan presented a claim (now not extant) to the Nauvoo City Council on 12 May 1843, which was allowed 1 June 1843 and this order written.
